Sajha Yatayat is the most well recognized organizations in the Nepalese public transportation industry. Its goal has been to make its services more accessible, convenient and efficient for the everyday commuter. In this regard, Sajha Yatayat, in collaboration with Slash Plus Pvt. Ltd., would like to introduce Nepal to Sajha Plus - an easy-to-use, bi-lingual, Android based application. Sajha Plus allows commuters to better plan their Sajha Bus rides. The app lets users select desired routes and provides real time data on all operational buses. Users can view estimated arrival times, next stations and distance to destination to plan their travel more effectively. The primary goal of Sajha Plus is to make the public transportation commutes more manageable and eliminate wastage of time with the go-to-the-station-and-wait approach.
The home page on the app displays the “Route list”, a “Search Bar and the “User Profile”. The desired stations can be selected from the Route List or users can also search for specific routes filtered by station on the search bar. The Route Cards displays the number of active operational buses, number of stops on the route, and total distance covered by the route. Selecting a particular Route Card opens up a map page that shows the buses closest to the users current GPS location. Tapping of the red circles on the map shows the station name and tapping on the bus icons displays the bus number.
On the map page, tapping the top left circular icon, shows the complete route list. Users can tap on the route list to switch between routes. Tapping the bottom left circular icon, shows all the operational buses on the selected route. Users may tap on the bus list to view additional buses on the map. Tapping the top right circular icon – shows the complete station list of the selected route. Tapping the bottom right circular icon, re-aligns map to users’ current GPS location. The bottom panel on the map page displays real time bus information respective to the selected bus – the bus number, next stop, approximate arrival time, next stop, route and the speed at which the bus is traveling. Swiping left or right on panel, displays information regarding additional buses. The map is responsive to swiping left of right on the bottom panel. User information is available with a tap on the circular user profile icon on the home page. The page opens to display a menu with feedback, language, About Sajha Yatayat and About Developer. Moreover, the app allows concerned parents and guardians to track buses, as they travel from station to station – providing an added element of security. The app even provides an additional feature to call the bus operators, in case users want further information.
The developers of the application, Slash Plus, have utilized their previous experience with fleet management systems, GPS tracking, passenger counting systems, and in-bus entertainment and PA systems in developing Sajha Plus. Sajah Yatayat and Slash Plus eagerly await constructive criticism via the in-app feedback panel. Future updates, services improvements and better end user experience will rely heavily on the feedback and needs of commuters. The developer team will be incorporating user feedback and will provide updates to the app on a timely manner.
